Research and Development activities are the foundation of a true car company. For Perodua, our R&D facility does more than just designing and engineering the most affordable cars for the masses; it also helps to create and develop true local capabilities, for Malaysians, by Malaysians.
From basic research and analysis to advanced technology development, R&D has grown from a humble unit to one that is able to integrate all development phases towards cost optimisation and human development enhancement — the local way.
Due to R&D activities, Perodua has also helped build over 120 suppliers, some of which are listed on the Malaysian bourse. We don’t just build cars; we help build the economy through localisation.
Currently, all Perodua models are manufactured with over 90% of local parts. This means we also create job opportunities and actively engage in technology transfers via our partner, Daihatsu. All in all, the entire Perodua
eco-system employs more than 50,000 workers nationwide.
